Ashtachap is the name used to refer to eight Hindi poets and disciples of Vallabhacharya (1478 – 1530 CE) and Vitthalnath (1515 – 1585 CE). The ashtachap poets were originally designated to perform the eight prescribed rituals of the Vallabha sect.
