This is the ethical and moral duty or righteousness that all individuals are expected to follow.
While one's dharma may be influenced by their social & familial roles, all individuals still have the freedom to choose how they fulfill their dharma according to their will. This implies a certain limited degree of free will in making ethical choices by individual. It is however limited based on his earlier lives karmas.
Karma and Destiny
The concept of karma is very centric to Hinduism. It is the law of cause and effect. According to this ancient belief, a person's actions (good or bad or neutral) in this life & in previous many lives determine their current circumstances & future experiences.
Karma implies a certain determinism, it is also allowing for free will in order to sense that individuals have the choice to perform good or bad actions in current life. The consequences of those choices, truely are believed to be determined by the laws of karma he has in his fate.
